HANDANA!

Admit it, you have come home from at least one run with a snotty sleeve. I know I have more times that I can count. Well no more! I have found my new friend, Handana. Handana is like a sweatband you wear on your hand. It wraps around your hand and wrist and then you can use it to wipe sweat, snot, gunk out of your eyes or off your lips.
Here is my hand with it on. Trying it on before a run.
I'm in love. I hate wiping my eyes or nose on my sweaty shirt. Well I don't have to do that anymore. And while I was running I decided that I would use each section for a distinct purpose so that I won't cross contaminate. The palm of my hand is for wiping sweat. The piece that wraps over my hand next to my thumb is for snot. And the bottom part around my wrist is for  lips. I know, I'm over thinking it. But that's what I do when I like something.

I'm sure your next question is, "where can I get one?" You can get one here. And there are some stores in the Gulf Coast that now carry them.

You can also check out a better review from a former running buddy over at Life's Run. She knows more about the product that I do. I just tried and reviewed. Love ya Regina!

I really hope you will check into Handana. I'm so happy I stumbled upon it.

God Bless.

**I was not compensated for my review. I was given the product to try and review. All opinions are my own.**

Good weekend.

I had a pretty awesome weekend, how about you? On Friday we traveled to Greensboro NC to meet up with our former priest (my husband's previous boss) and his wife. My husband worked under Fr Ron at our last church in FL before we moved to VA. He and his wonderful wife are like family to us so we gladly traveled 2.5 hours one way just to spend 6 hours with them and then travel back. We had a great time.

Then as soon as we got home a friend and her daughter met us at our home. I had not seen my friend and her daughter since Sept 2006. That's a long time! They drove down from PA to run their very first 5k with me. What an honor it was to help a friend push her limits and run/walk a 5k. She did great. And her 8 year old even raced with us. It was an amazing event.

Also this weekend I received to very generous donations towards my Team in Training goal. I am now only $425 away from the goal I set for myself. If you would like to help you can donate here. Or another option for donation (but this option is not tax deductible) you can purchase from an online Thirty-One party I am hosting here. The Thirty-One party is open until 2/23 and the lovely consultant has agreed to give all of her commission to my fundraiser.

How was your weekend?

God Bless.

Team Pretty Muddy

I'm so excited to announce that I was chosen to be part of Team Pretty Muddy Richmond. I have always wanted to do a mud run but things haven't worked out for me to go one in the past. Well I have gotten my opportunity and it will come in September.

What is Pretty Muddy? Pretty Muddy is a women's only 5k obstacle mud run. And the run is followed by a finish line party. It's an opportunity to have some out of the ordinary fun. Have more questions? You can look for your answers here.

Do you want to run Pretty Muddy? What about with me in Richmond? Or some other location?

This race will also be one of my 13 in 2013. I'm lining up my races.

Have you ever run a mud run? Would you be willing to?

God Bless.

Rockstar Status

I'm trying to reach "Rockstar" Status for Team In Training. Will you help me? You can donate here.  I'm running in honor of a little girl who is just six months older than my little girl.

God Bless.

Behind...

I just realized how behind I am on my blog. It's been over two weeks since I posted. I have been a busy bee. My daughter started half day preschool and I started nannying. Through in the baking I was already doing for a local cafe and my running and training I'm swamped. But in a good way.

But, I am working on some reviews and giveaways soon. Hopefully I will get the connections I am working on to bring some good stuff to my readers.

I am officially 3.5 months out from my next big race, The Nike Women's Half in DC. I'm super stoked. I've never run in DC and I've never run with Team In Training. Plus, who wouldn't be stoked about the Tiffany's finisher's necklace?! Though I have been having a harder time keeping to my schedule with the small window of daylight hours. But I am making sure I get at least two short runs in a week and my schedule long run on Saturdays. And I have registered for some smaller more local races.

How are things going for you? I hope you are well and warm :) We had our first VA snow last night. But it was a bummer, not enough for our little girl to really play in. Maybe we will get some more before the winter is over.

God Bless.

2013 Goals

Ok, here they are my 2013 goals. In no particular order.

Running/Fitness Related Goals:

  1. Run 825+ miles
  2. Run 13+ races, with at least 2 of those being half marathons. (See my little badge on the side with the 13 in 2013?!)
  3. Run The Inagural Nike Women's Half in DC.
  4. Pace a friend for her first 5k.
  5. Run Monument Ave 10k.
  6. Do trigger point therapy at least twice a week. (Don't know what trigger point is, check it out here.)
  7. 500+ crunches a week.
  8. 500+ lunges a week.
  9. 5+ mins total of wall sits a week.
  10. 1+ day of cross training at the YMCA a week
Non Fitness Related Goals:
  1. Teach my daughter at least half of the Nicene Creed. (Don't know what the Nicene Creed is? It is a statement of our Christian faith. You can read it here, we use the modern version.)
  2. Read 52+ books.
  3. Teach my daughter our phone number.
  4. Read my Bible and devotional 3+ times a week. (This one I struggle with from year to year, some years I rock it and others I don't. I struggled last year.)
Ok, so my biggest hurdles this year I feel are sticking to reading my Bible and cross training. I have always struggled with those two. But this year I want to make it a habit and not a hurdle. I will start off small and build from there.

What are you goals? How will you accomplish them?

Happy New Year!

God Bless.

My #1 Goal for the Year!
