Kona Kase Review and Offer

Have you heard of Kona Kase? I hadn't until a while back. But this month I got one in the mail. It is awesome. Its a box to "fuel your active lifestyle" that comes monthly to your home. Inside it you will find a variety of foods that change each month. It also come with information about each product, discount codes and where you can purchase more of them.
This is a sample of what comes in the box, I believe this was last month's.
My box had Sun Cups, Tcho Chocolates, Clif Shot Bloks, Wild Friends Nut Butter, Clif Bar, Earnest Eats, Perfect Foods Bar and Brubar in it. All of these are super exciting to me because I haven't tried any of these products before. And it works out well because the Nike Women's Half I am about to run next month will have Shot Bloks on the course, so at least now I can sample ahead of time.

Would you like to try Kona Kase? You can even do it with the first month half off. Use the code Miller and you will get your first month for $7.50. You can cancel your subscription at any time. So why not try it out?

Have a blessed Easter. God Bless.

**All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review. I was sent a box to review and that is it.**

Favorite Things Round One

As I mentioned I am going to be doing a three part series on my favorite running related items. I thought I would start off with my favorite running clothes. I figured I would break it down by cold and warm weather so that I can tell you my favorite stuff year round. And this is strictly clothes, no gloves or hats just clothes. Gloves, hat and other accessories will be found in another post. I'm officially one month out from my second half marathon so some of these clothes mentioned will get used very soon.

Cold Weather:

  • Oiselle Lesley Knickers, I prefer capris most of the time in winter because my calves are the last thing I notice as cold. Why pay extra to cover up that last couple of inches when I don't notice it's cold? Plus, I'm short so most pants are too long for me any way.
  • Oiselle no longer makes the vest that I wear but here is the new updated version. I love my vest as opposed to added another layer. My arms are the first things to get warm and with the vest I don't have to worry about having a second layer to roll up.
  • I don't necessarily have a favorite shirt. I mix it up between Nike, North Face and Underarmour. Generally I wear what ever is clean :)

Warm Weather:

  • Oiselle Distance Shorts, can you say race shorts?! These are my go to race shorts as they have THREE pockets. They have two zippered pockets, one on the side and one in the back, and then they have a key pocket. I completed my first half marathon in these and I will be wearing them again next month for my second half marathon. I own these in two colors.
  • Oiselle Bum Wrap, these are my TMI go to. When I'm feeling cramped, bloated or uncomfortable I run in these shorts. They have some extra coverage with the "skirt" layer.
  • Moving Comfort Momentum Shorts, these are the first shorts I ever wore as an adult after I encountered the humidity of Florida that cauesed major chafing. They have since been a short that I continually return to. I have them in a couple of colors.
  • Moving Comfort 4 in Compression Shorts, these are my "I'm feeling speedy shorts." They just make me feel fast.
  • Brooks Women's Versatile EZ Racer Back, this is my all time favorite warm weather top. It is the perfect length and it is cool. I would buy it in every color if I could afford to.
Year Round Necessities:
  • Moving Comfort Vixen Bra I recommend being fit tested for a bra. I was fitted at Running Wild and I would do it all over again. It was the best thing because I would have bought the wrong size. But I love this bra. It's my go to year round.
  • Fox River Socks, I love these socks. They have helped solve my blister issue. I have tried some others like Swiftwick, and while I do love those as well I always go back to my Fox River. I really should buy some more Swiftwick though.
  • Phat Girlz shirts, I have two long sleeve, two short sleeve and three tanks. I sport them as often as I can. I don't get to participate in Phat Girlz anymore since I no longer live in Pensacola but I will always be a Phat Girlz member. And every so often a friend mails me a new shirt or I order one by phone. The Girlz will always hold a special place in my heart.
What is on your "favorite" running clothes list? Do we share any similarities?

Have a great rest of the week and a very Happy Easter. Remember that Jesus paid the ultimate price for us when He hung on that cross. But that He also rose again so that one day we may live in eternity with Him. God Bless.

A few of my favorite things.

I've decided to do a short running series on my "favorite things." Can you hear Julie Andrews singing "A few of my favorite things"? I can :)

This will be a three part series where you can find some of my favorite things that I like to use during my training and races. The series will include:

  • Favorite Running Clothes
  • Favorite Running Accessories, including shoes
  • Favorite Running Nutrition **This one will include a giveaway
I will be including where I like or have purchased them from and where you can purchase them from. I hope you find the list fun and useful.

Have a great week. God Bless.

Another Cake. Yes Another.

So a lot of my posts lately have been cake related. Sorry for those of you who only read my blog for my running and exercise related stuff. I'm working a series of running related posts soon. But  this post is yet another cake.

I was asked to make an "elegant cake covered in fondant with flowers" for a 40th birthday party. This is what I came up with.
Finished product.
It was a nine inch marble cake with dark chocolate filling covered in fondant, decorated with gum paste roses and leaves with a fondant and edible pearl trim. Oh and it also had edible lustre dust on it for a little extra sparkle. Here is a close up of the roses and leaves I made.

One of my favorite tedious tasks, making gum paste roses.
So what do you think? Did I hit the mark of an elegant cake?

Check back soon for a new running related post. I hope to have the first one up on Wednesday. But it will be a busy week. I have yet another cake today (Yay! Business is picking up!) and it's Holy Week. And since my husband is a Priest that makes our house will be crazy busy.

Have a great and blessed Holy Week. God Bless.

Race and Cake Weekend

This weekend I ran the Roanoke Canal 8k. Some how I managed NOT to take any pictures. Shame on me. But the good news to report is I placed 3rd overall female. YAY for me! My official time was 42:17, which averages to a pace of 8:29. I walked away from the race with a pretty cool pint glass as an award. I'm mentioned in the Roanoke Rapids newspaper, and I'm supposed to be pictured but so far not yet. Ok, since I don't have any pictures I will move on the to the cake. I have a picture of it :)
Smash Cake!
I had the pleasure of making a smash cake for a very sweet little one year old boy this weekend. He is the younger brother of my daughter's friend. It's so fun to watch a little one tear into cake and especially for me when I made it. It just makes me so happy.

I'm also quite happy to report that as of this weekend, I am officially a Rockstar runner for Team in Training. What does that mean? It means that I have raised $1000 over the minimum for my race. I'm sitting at $3000.75. I know, it doesn't say that on my sidebar. That is because checks are still being processed but I am pretty stoked by this accomplishment.

How was your weekend? Anything fun or exciting?

God Bless.

Cakes :)

My blog is newer than many of my cake creations. So I went back and found a few of my favorites. I need to hook up my old computer tower and save the rest on my external hard drive. But until I get to do that, here are three of my faves.
Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate

Recreation of a beach wedding cake topper for a friend. Their cake was in a freezer in another state.

The very first cake I made for my daughter :)
Hopefully I can get some pics up soon.

Have a great week.

God Bless!
